StowAway Exhaust Shields

The StowAway Exhaust Shields are designed to deflect engine exhaust away from the back of your StowAway Cargo Box to prevent heat damage. The Exhaust Shields are available for both StowAway Box models, mounting directly to the frame for the Max Box and to the box for the Standard box.

If your vehicle's exhaust pipe points at or directly below your StowAway Cargo Box, we do recommend the exhaust shield(s).

Installation

All of the necessary hardware is included. StowAway fixed frame models require that the exhaust shields be mounted directly to the StowAway Cargo box.

* Signature required for all items shipped via Fedex Ground. To arrange a delivery time or drop off location for your shipment you can register with Fedex Delivery Manager and provide your tracking information.

Free Shipping within the Continental U.S.

We offer free shipping on all orders within the Continental United States. Items purchased through the StowAway website are typically processed and ready for shipment within 1-2 business days. During the summer months (or right before a holiday) this could change to 3-4 processing days. Please call to confirm current lead times before placing your order.

For orders within the lower 48 states, we ship with either FedEx or USPS ground. Please call for available express options and applicable shipping charges. There is no sales tax in Oregon, so we do not charge sales tax on U.S. orders, regardless of your destination.

Shipping to Alaska

StowAway orders ship to Alaska via Span Alaska and generally take 7 to 10 business days. Shipping costs to Alaska generally range from $100 to $200, depending on the product. Orders ship to the closest port via barge. We generally ship smaller items to Alaska by U.S. Mail. Please fill out our Quote Request Form and one of our Customer Service Representatives will email you a quote by the end of the next business day.

Shipping to Hawaii

We generally ship orders to Hawaii by air. At the customer's request, we can also ship orders to Hawaii by sea. Please fill out our Quote Request Form for a shipping quote to Hawaii. One of our Customer Service Representatives will email you a quote by the end of the next business day.

Shipping to Canada

The included self-tapping screws were no match for the strong steel of the swing-away frame, even with the recommended pilot holes. I ended up drilling and tapping machine screw threads to fit a common 10mm bolt that is used all over my vehicle.

The exhaust shields are a great attachment for any vehicle with rear exit exhaust and even though they require some additional effort to attach to an already existing setup, the exceptional customer service makes it well worth it. Best customer service in any market in today's society comes directly from StowAway Cargo Carriers without a doubt!

I received the product and since I had already assembled the StowAway carrier previously, I had to remove it from the frame prior to installing the exhaust shield. Once the carrier was removed, I marked and drilled the holes as noted in the directions. I then mounted the shield and attempted to tighten it to the frame using the self-tapping screws provided. However, this proved to be a futile attempt since the screws would not self-tap fully, only inserting into the frame partly. I remedied this by removing the screws and adding lock washers and then tightening the screws as much as possible. It would seem to me that these holes should be pre-drilled and tapped on both the driver and passenger side of the frame at the factory. If they are not used, no harm but it would make it much easier for the user by having them already predrilled/tapped.
