StowAway® Frame and Cargo Carrier Limited Warranty
Issued by Pacific Recreational Products, Inc. (“PRP”)
This Limited Warranty applies to StowAway® SwingAway frames, cargo boxes, and related accessories purchased by the original retail customer.
Warranty Coverage
Pacific Recreational Products, Inc. (“PRP”) warrants to the original retail purchaser that the StowAway frame and associated hardware will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of ten (10) years from the date of retail purchase. If the purchase includes a StowAway cargo box, PRP also warrants that the cargo box will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for the same ten (10) year period.
The electrical system (e.g., wiring harness, taillights) and any optional accessories (such as lid racks, buffet boards, wheel kits, or exhaust shields) are warranted for a period of one (1) year from the date of retail purchase.
Remedies
If a covered defect is discovered during the applicable warranty period, and the purchaser notifies PRP, PRP will, at its sole discretion:
- Repair the defective part or product at no charge;
- Replace the defective part or product with a new or refurbished equivalent;
- Refund all or part of the original purchase price.
- Offer a discounted replacement product.
Repair or replacement does not extend the original warranty period.
What the Warranty Does Not Cover
This limited warranty does not cover any damage, malfunction, or failure resulting from improper use, environmental exposure, or other conditions outside of normal intended operation, including but not limited to the following:
- Normal wear and tear;
- Cosmetic blemishes, scratches, fading, or discoloration that do not affect structural integrity or function;
- Rust, corrosion, or damage caused by exposure to exhaust gases;
- Damage due to misuse, abuse, neglect, improper installation, collision, or other accidents;
- Off-road use or operation on unpaved surfaces;
- Overloading the frame or cargo box beyond rated capacity;
- Unauthorized repairs or modifications;
- Use of the product with incompatible hitch receivers (e.g., incorrect size, rating, or configuration).
- Damage caused by improper storage, handling, or failure to follow product maintenance guidelines;
- Damage resulting from fire, flood, hail, storm, vandalism, theft, or other external forces.
How to Obtain Warranty Service
To request warranty service, contact PRP by phone or email with a description of the issue. PRP may require proof of purchase, photos, or additional documentation to evaluate the claim. If the defect is covered under warranty, PRP will provide further instructions, which may include:
- Returning the product in its original packaging or equivalent;
- Following specific shipping or handling guidelines. Unless otherwise authorized in writing, return shipping charges are the responsibility of the purchaser.
All warranty claims must be initiated within the applicable warranty period and must include a valid proof of purchase.
Limitations and Disclaimers
This limited warranty is the sole and exclusive warranty for the product. To the fullest extent permitted by law, PRP disclaims all other express or implied warranties, including any warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Any implied warranties that cannot be disclaimed are limited to the applicable warranty period stated above.
PRP is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the product—this includes, but is not limited to, loss of time, inconvenience, commercial loss, or damage to vehicles or cargo—even if PRP has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, or the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you.
Governing Law
This limited warranty shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
