Need a heavy duty frame that easily mounts to your hitch receiver and swings out for easy access to the back of your vehicle? As our most popular hitch carrier frame, the StowAway SwingAway hitch carrier frame offers both!
Fabricated from heavy-duty steel, the swing away hitch frame fits both 1.25 inch and 2 inch hitch receivers.
It also swings out up to 180 degrees, giving you clear access to the rear of your vehicle when you need it.
Ideal for individuals or families who want all the accessible cargo space they can get, the SwingAway cargo frame pairs well with all of the StowAway Cargo Boxes, hitch racks, bike racks, ski carriers or even your own box or rack.
Our frames have either a 5" or a 2" rise that provides a little more ground clearance at the rear of the vehicle.

** Please note - Our SwingAway and Fixed frames have different mounting bolt patterns. Our StowAway cargo box will need to have alternate mounting holes drilled if switching from one frame to the other.

- Four hole mounting pattern for attaching our cargo box, cargo rack, bike rack or ski carrier. Will also accommodate many other carriers.
- Provides enough clearance for most rear-mounted spare tires and ladders (please specify dimension)
- Built with either a 5" or 2" rise depending on your vehicle (2" for vehicles with less than 7" of clearance between hitch and rear doors, 5" for all others)
- Fabricated with heavy-duty steel tubing for strength and durability
- Black powder coat finish to resist corrosion
- Swings out up to 180° to the passenger side, pin locks carrier at 90° if desired
- Dual safeties to prevent the frame from swinging out inadvertently
- Fits any Class III or Class IV 2" trailer hitch, or Class II 1.25" trailer hitch for the LT model
- Up to 250 lbs of carrying capacity with a 2" hitch
- Up to 175 lbs of carrying capacity with a 1.25" hitch
- Frame weighs 47 lbs

We offer free shipping on all orders within the Continental United States.
Items purchased through the StowAway website are typically processed and ready for shipment within 1-2 business days. During the summer months (or right before a holiday) this could change to 3-4 processing days. Please call to confirm current lead times before placing your order.
For orders within the lower 48 states, we ship with either FedEx or USPS ground.

There is no sales tax in Oregon, so we do not charge sales tax on U.S. orders, regardless of your destination.

StowAway orders ship to Alaska via Span Alaska and generally take 7 to 10 business days.
Shipping costs to Alaska generally range from $100 to $200, depending on the product. Orders ship to the closest port via barge.
We generally ship smaller items to Alaska by U.S. Mail.
